A KRA pin is important because it helps Kenyans file their tax returns and it is required for income tax purposes. It is also necessary when conducting other crucial transactions. If you find yourself losing your KRA pin, do not worry because it is possible to get it as long as you have a national ID card. You just need to follow any of the following methods;

Method 1

The first step is to scan your colored ID card and then send it to the KRA social media page, preferably their Facebook Page or Twitter handle, through direct message and tell them you have forgotten your KRA pin. Then request them to send it to you. They will respond within an hour and you will be able to retrieve your lost KRA pin. Using social media to seek assistance is the fastest way to get a response.

Method 2

Visit a nearby KRA office or Huduma Centre with your original ID with you. Request for the retrieval of your KRA pin at the customer service desk.  You will be asked to provide your original ID. Once they confirm your details, you will be given a printed copy of your KRA certificate.

Method 3

You can email KRA at callcentre@kra.go.ke and send them a colored scan of your national identification card on both sides. Preferably use the email address you used to sign up on iTax.  However, this method is slower as compared to reaching out to KRA via their social media handles.
